Talent is everywhere. Opportunity is not.

Lydia says working for Spero "has actually made so many things possible," and that even now she is "still in awe and wonder." As a single mother, returning home to Tonga meant swallowing her pride and relying on her parents — all while putting her daughter's "physical, mental, emotional… and spiritual welfare" first. She tried a 9–5 outside the home, but after six months had to quit because it was affecting her "full time job as a mother."

She kept searching for an online role that would let her stay home, continue her education, support her daughter, and help her parents. "Spero made that dream come true." Through remote work, she's supported herself through school, provided for her daughter's school uniform and books, and eased the financial load on her parents. Writing about the experience, Lydia says she cries "not tears of sadness, but tears of overwhelming gratitude," describing Spero as "heaven sent."

Today, Lydia says the role has had "a great impact on my future and confidence." Starting in a temporary position, she found that Spero "build[s] upon the skill sets you already have," helping people grow even if they had no prior work experience. "I never could have imagined I would be in this position," she reflects, "with God, nothing is impossible."

After his plans to study in the U.S. fell through, Davi found himself unsure of what to do next. When he first heard about Pathway, he admits, "my first thought was like, well, maybe that's my last option." Still, he decided to move forward. As he learned about remote work and U.S. companies, he began to think, "maybe I can do it. Maybe that's for me."

Two weeks later, Davi received an email from Spero. "I said, well, I think that's time." Starting paid training was completely new, but he says, "from the beginning, I felt like you trust me." No one focused on the fact that English wasn't his native language or that he had never done this kind of work before. "That trust helped me believe in myself and eventually be successful." What once felt like his biggest challenge, "was not a worry" anymore.

Since joining Spero, the opportunity has opened doors he never expected. "I've received a lot of opportunities just because I have Spero on my LinkedIn," he says, noting he received "not just one or two offers." As he prepares for marriage and continues his education, Davi says the role "came at the right time in my life," adding simply, "it was such a blessing." Today, he pays that opportunity forward as a Pathway missionary.
